Tips for Coaches Through FEAR and DOUBT

Updated: Dec 15, 2024

How to price your coaching. How do you determine and set your coaching fees? How much to charge as a beginner? And how to increase the price?

Pricing Mindset Shifts;

Hi, I'm Nechama Miram Steinhaus, and in this blog, I will be sharing with you an inner dialogue you may resonate with at any stage of building your coaching practice.

Let's give an example of setting your price.

If you are confident already in your price and have had people walk in at that point, then keep doing what you're doing, and if you want a 16 minute mindset energiser to get your pump going, feel free to register here for The Pro-active Mindset free class. And, if you are toying with how much to charge for your coaching, or you feel you are undercharging, read on..

Or. If you are okay with pricing but do have fear in other areas, I invite you to read on..

Inner dialogue;

LOVE; Ok, this sounds good. I'd like to hear more. I really would like to get this straight and charge the value of my service

FEAR; [rushes in and barely allows LOVE to finish her sentence] [now FEAR starts huffing and breathes heavily] Yeah but I'm not sure because of course I'd like to charge well but I'm quite new on the job and also, the people who I'm serving can't afford it, and I'm a bit unsure I'm going to get them the results they want, so would rather go either free or charge a bit, like.. [FEARS' eyes are darting now, this way and that]

LOVE; I really am curious now to learn more and understand how I can make this work and perhaps hear something new on the matter that I didn't realise yet. I know my coaching is valuable; I love the amazing techniques and tools I have learned, and I wish so many women would know all what I now know. It's incredible and my work makes a huge difference in their lives. I'd love this to work well.

Knowing the Value

Here's what I need you to look at;

  • The value of your package

  • What people will and will not pay for

  • The Structure of your Coaching Offer

  • The Mindset behind pricing and the difference between a high-ticket offer and a cheap service.

Inner dialogue;

FEAR; Ok, what, what, I'm a bit scared, and anyway, who says people will pay for this and also, I'm only at the beginning and this is waaay past my zone and..

LOVE; This sounds good, let me learn more

FEAR; okay I'll think about it..

LOVE; That means never, sweety.

FEAR; Huh? No, I'm not sure it's the right time for me to go into this now. I could in theory go into a few different areas of coaching and I have not yet decided which one I should stick to. Once I've decided that, then maybe..

LOVE; Hmmm, I'm not sure that this..

FEAR; How do I know I'm going to get the results they need? I can't charge until I feel totally sure of that.

LOVE; Sure. I hear you. Don't you think though, that we really should decide on the package including the pricing. I wonder if it will make a difference to how I work. It should give me more clarity and accuracy about what I offer.

FEAR; I think it would be more loving to charge less, next to nil, or even actually free to people who can't afford it.

Actually, why not arrange sponsorships for those that can't afford the program.. and I really don't think this is so necessary in coaching. The main thing is that you coach, right? Although maybe I should make a course, and charge, like, a lot less. So everyone can come in, right?

LOVE; Riiiiiggghhhht. Something tells me that's not such a great idea but I'm not sure why. That's why I'm open to learning more about this,

LOVE; I know I'm on a way here. FEAR is stuck now - I'm torn. I'm clear really but really scared. FEAR is getting the better of me.

How to deal with FEAR?

Let's pause for a moment to describe FEAR; It interrupts. It talks loud and fast. It is the master of deflection. It focuses on the other person, in order to distract you from moving forward. It is critical, and can sometimes take on the guise of an argument.

LOVE, is quiet. Calm. Clear. Knowing. It doesn't push. It doesn't need to. But, similar to the story of Eli and The Little White Lie, it sometimes gets overpowered by FEAR.

Who wins in the end?

We've hit the fork in the road; this is your power, your choice.

If FEAR has turned big, pushy and purple and you are overwhelmed by the non-relenting "proofs" that now is not the right time, then The free training or any of my invitations for that matter, are not for you. I wish you the best of British luck, but I don't think I can help you get that fulfilment as a coach, whilst earning well.

However. If you yes experience FEAR but with acknowledgement, and despite it's constant rattling in your head, pretending to sound super objective and logical, you move on regardless, then, I think you would benefit from taking the next step forward. You may choose to book a call, watch that free training or head straight to see the details of PIVOT; whichever step you are ready for, I trust you will move forward as you fight the demons of FEAR and stay aligned to your inner voice, gently but firmly propelling you to your success.

What does acknowledging FEAR look like?

  • It looks compassionate.

  • It looks confident.

  • Connecting to yourself.

  • Motivation is alive and unaffected.

And, on the flip side, when we are sucked and overwhelmed by FEAR,

  • we are paralysed into no-further-action-until-further-notice mode.

  • We actually stay stuck.

  • No financial improvement

  • No fulfilment

  • Old familiar frustrations feel comfy
